According to his own ability.
Reading the parable of the talents today made me do some thinking. As the story goes, a man gives his servants talents (ancient Greek money) the first got 5, the second 2, and the third he gave 1. After an amount of time, the man returned to settle accounts. The first 2 had made two-fold the money back by using what they were given but the 3rd had buried his talent and gained nothing. He was pleased and said “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord”; the last servant had his talent taken away and was scorned as “wicked and lazy”.
This story got me thinking. Do I use all I have?
I want to examine what I have to work with: my talents, skills, resources, contacts, passions, etc.
I feel as if I’m not working at my full potential.
I don’t think we’re ever given a task outside of our capabilities, our self-consciousness inhibits us, our mind lies to us and tells us we’ll fail.
